We hear “My customer has this ring that needs…” or “I inherited my mother’s ring and was wondering if it can be put in wearable condition.”Jabel has the ability to restore or repair an overwhelming majority of the jewelry we have produced within the ninety-seven years we have been in existence because we continue to be an American made line of jewelry.We receive many requests regarding restoration of our classic Add-A-Section Bracelets (The FB styles); the question, usually, is “After many years of wear the bracelet has loosened and needs new spring pins or riveting, can you repair this?" Yes we can.How, you may ask, is any of the aforesaid possible? The answer is that all Jabel craftspeople in our New Jersey workshop are committed to service each and every individual repair order as though it were their own personal property.Service information includes an evaluation of what is needed prior to releasing restoration work to our Production Department; after the evaluation and instructions to proceed upon approval from our client we commence restoration of the jewelry.How do we perform the required restorations?Re-tipping prongs is accomplished by adding the appropriate carat metal to the top of the needed prongs. The tips are then shaped, polished and finished; all while the diamond is still in its original setting. Re-tipping prongs can be done via the solder or laser method.Re-carvingand re-engraving is accomplished by our artisan who manually retraces the original pattern. Re-beading is accomplished via precise manually rolling of the metal.Ring shank can wear thin from generations of wear. Our expert bench jewelers can replace half shanks as well as resizing an existing shankRestoring an Add-A-Section bracelet to secure and wearable condition is an operation that requires the skills and techniques of a highly trained, experienced crafts person.
