Since the 2011 wedding of Kate Middleton and Price William, I always thought the reason William did not wear a ring was due to a royal tradition. I have since learned that mostly all of his royal ancestors, including his father, Prince Charles, wear a wedding ring. William chose not to wear a ring simply out of personal preference.When Kate picked her wedding band she wore one from the "lump of Welsh gold" that she chose not to have plated or alloyed white. Her infamous sapphire engagement ring is in platinum or white gold, so it was a little strange to me that she chose to have a yellow gold classic wedding band. Years later, I am obsessed with the yellow and white two tone gold look. There used to be a "social rule" where you wore only yellow gold or only white/platinum/silver. Nowadays, with very few fashion rules you can mix and match wherever you please. This Christmas season, the two-tone trend is actually hotter than ever, so Kate was way ahead of the trend!When you go to a jewelry store to pick out your future husband's wedding ring, is it necessary to match yours? These days, I really don't think that matters. Maybe he wants the same wedding band as his father, which is yellow, and yours is platinum. Maybe you have a rose gold engagement ring, and your "manly" fiancé can't handle the pink, tell him he can pick green gold, yellow gold, or white gold. Any wedding band will do!
