The above photos, taken by the very talented mother and daughter team, Chris & Carrin Ackerman. These amazing shots were taken in Boston to celebrate the engagement of Kimiko and Michael. Naturally, I asked the couple if I could share their engagement story. Here is their love story:Michael and I first met at a work happy hour event after working at the same consulting company for almost three years. A few months after meeting we went on our first “official” date to an Italian restaurant in the north end of Boston. From there we were inseparable when we weren't flying around the country/world for our jobs. Our engagement came in two parts and was somewhat unconventional. The first part of it happened in April 2013 when we were in NYC for my birthday. My friend, and jeweler, invited us over to her apartment for a ‘cocktail party’ before going out to dinner. When we arrived, I found out it was a ruse and that no one was actually coming to the party but instead we were there to pick out a ring! After a night of staring at beautiful diamonds and settings, I picked out a beautiful rectangle radiant cut stone and Michael picked out the hand engraved diamond band (which I requested in Yellow Gold). The second part, and the real engagement came three months later when Michael (FINALLY) proposed at his house followed by dinner at the restaurant we went to on our first date. Some ladies may disagree, but I'm grateful that Mike included me in the process. Not only did I end up with something a little different then what I thought I wanted, but both of us were able to incorporate our taste into the ring which makes it even more personal to me and was a great way to start this journey together.

Kimiko and Michael are getting married in October. It is recommended that the future brides and grooms order their wedding bands six months before the big day. It is always important to take time out of your busy schedule to pick out wedding bands. Long after the wedding is over, your wedding ring will still sit on your left hand. When you spend a lifetime looking down at that piece of jewelry, you have to make sure it is something you truly love. Likewise, with heirloom jewelry like Jabel's your wedding bands will be admired for generations to come. Most brides have a white gold or platinum engagement ring, but Kimiko knew from the beginning she wanted something different; Kimiko wears an 18KT yellow gold engagement ring which is featured below. When it came time to pick out the wedding bands, Kimiko already knew she wanted one pink gold wedding band, and one white gold wedding band to accent her stunning yellow gold engagement ring. Her pink gold NS2028 is just a simple wedding band that is 2MM wide. The white gold wedding band is a common prong eternity band that sparkles like crazy! Mixing three different metals gives Kimiko's left hand a very modern yet elegant look. We not only love how Kimiko used different color metals but we love how she combined a plain gold wedding band with two diamond rings. Visually, we can’t get enough of this look, and we cannot wait for the wedding photos! Michael went with Jabel's classic SW2335 in 18KT white gold. This gent's wedding band is 5MM wide and and is featured below.
