In reading through Jabel's past literature I found a great passage that captures and illustrates the laborius process of die striking jewelry in three brief paragraphs.
"ROLL and STRIKE! ROLL and

STRIKE! These are the magic words that give Jabel shanks and settings their wearability and precise lines. They make possible the fine workmanship of exquisite detail. The gold used in Jabel rings and jewelry is alloyed in our own factory, formed into bars and then rolled under heavy pressure. This produces a metal ribbon that is non-porous, solid, homogenous and uniformly strong in the desired thickness. Cut to proper size, the pieces are blanked out by dies in various shapes. These pieces are tehn put through alternate operations of pressure (striking) and heat treatment (annealing) as demonstrated in the drawing above. All of this results in a perfectly proportioned mounting that can be readily resized without injury to the metal. The mounting illustrated is one of many created to retain its superior finish and play your diamond in the most beautiful, safest manner possible." 1987 Jabel Catalog
