Understand LimitationsNon-traditional engagement rings are a gaining popularity for a number of reasons including budget constraints in the younger millennial generation, the rise in popularity of antique jewelry, and an increasing number of celebrities wearing unique engagement rings (gemstones, diamond cluster, etc). The result is a beautiful and diverse bridal market. On the flip side, it is putting a growing strain on jewelry designers to find a balance between aesthetics and structural integrity. Some rings lend themselvesto a curved wedding band, while other rings have too defined of a curvature to be able to pair with curved wedding bands. When a band can not fit flush against your engagement ring consider a straight band with similar details to tie the set together.

Matching Your SetThis is where the earlier two questions really come into play. If you do not plan to wear your ring everyday any wedding band, matching or not will work. If you do want that matched look, as I mentioned before, sometimes even the most contoured curved wedding band can not fit around a unique engagement ring, when this happens it is time to redefine your definition of "matching." Here are a few solutions:
- Select a wedding band you LOVE and move your engagement ring to another finger.
- Select a straight wedding band that has similar details so the engravings, gemstones, or design elements will match.
- Select a straight simple gold wedding band. The symbolism of a plain gold wedding bands makes it beautiful even if its not a perfect match.
