Wendy's Antique Diamond Ring Surprise

The amazing story behind wendy's die struck antique ring settings!

It is not uncommon for us to hear amazing background stories about our heirloom quality engagement rings, wedding bands, and ladies rings. These stories span generations of woman as they pass from one hand to another. However, when we were contacted by Wendy, her's was certainly a first. Enjoy!

"When my family purchased a house in 1973 the former owner took a suitcase out the door and left everything else behind!! While sifting through a house of "stuff" we found this ring and a similar solitaire (not labeled Jabel) in a tea cup in the china cupboard. We assume these had been his late wife's rings but have no way of knowing for sure."

What Wendy and her family discovered is a ring that predates our current written records! When I asked our historian for information on the ring he responded with the following:

"This one is a mystery. I have no info other than it appears to be a version of the filigree mounting series from the early 1920s. These die struck mountings were made to accommodate one, two or three major stones; this indicates that as many as five separate findings were incorporated in a three stone mounting. These mountings were hand assembled, hand-pierced and hand engraved…and Jabel referred to these craftsmen as 'Our artisans'."

A few things are very striking about Wendy's ring. First, the amazing condition the ring is in today is because of Jabel's unique die struck process. Second, the ornate detail and design of the ring is extraordinary. These styles were made using hand carved dies that could take up to a month for one artisan to carve. We just love seeing these beautiful rings!
